Used primarily as a culinary spice, thyme is an important medicinal as well. Used traditionally as a cough remedy and expectorant, it is also antibacterial and anti-fungal when used topically. An excellent ingredient in healing salves and cough formulas, as well as a healing tea when sick with respiratory complaints.
